Since I usually have Chloe in a little "hip hammock", which is a sling-like baby carrier, I don't have total, unfettered use of my hands and arms - Chloe's usually trying to grab everything in reach. We went to Hawaii. It was awesome. Cherry blossom (sakura) viewing is extremely popular in Japan, and it's so beautiful that we can see why!  The very brief season - the trees are only in bloom for around ten days - began around last weekend in Nagoya, so Mike, Chloe and I took a little trip to the nearby Yamazaki River for a little ohanami walk.  It was so beautiful! We already received Chloe's passport and birth certificate in the mail, less than a week after submitting the application!  Wow!  Bureaucracy is great! :)

The Bad:
Our bank is just ridiculous (I won't name names, but it starts with a "Hunt" and ends with an "ington").  We were apparently supposed to get new debit/ATM cards way back in October. A couple weeks ago, our little zombie stopped sleeping all day long. In fact, she stopped sleeping during the day AT ALL. We had a doctor appointment this morning and she is perfectly healthy. A few days ago, our little zombie discovered the joys of being awake.  Yesterday she had two or three stretches of awake time that lasted several hours! A couple days ago, we gave Chloe her very first bath at home.  Unlike in the States, they give babies immersion baths (as opposed to sponge baths) very early here, even before the umbilical stump falls off.  We think it has something to do with the way they are for umbilical stumps here, but never having had a baby in the U.S., we don't really know quite how the practices differ. Mom and baby are doing great! I'm making a quick stop at the house to spread the excitement. Meika is an amazing woman. The first contration was at 3am.
